The Caring Crafters began with a small group of women who enjoy knitting or crocheting. The purpose of the group is to provide support for patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation who are experiencing hair loss.
We hope that our handiwork demonstrates that we care for them and want to keep them warm. We craft caps and scarves, and have delivered hundreds of items by year’s end to Cancer Care at Saint Clare’s in Denville. We also make caps for newborn babies.
The group includes beginners, experts, and everyone in between. We obtain our patterns from group members and from the internet. Much of the yarn we use has been donated by friends, family, or group members. We can always use more yarn!
We meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 10am.
The group presented a display of the type of items that are knitted or crocheted for donation. As a result, many crafters who cannot attend meetings joined their efforts to those of the group, and have contributed with beautiful and intricate handiwork.
The crafters have sent donations to St. Clare’s hospital, Birth Haven, St. Joseph’s home for the elderly, Eric Johnson House, Homeless Solutions, St. Joseph’s hospital, and St. Mary’s hospital.
